As some of my fellow Flashers have pointed out today, there seems to (finally) be some movement on a much requested feature (with over 550 votes) for Flash: AEC Support (Advanced Echo Cancellation). It is the second most voted feature request - number one has more votes since seemingly because it has been overrun by Apple fanboys who complain about Flash's poor performance on OSX. It hasn't occurred to them that they should also talk to Apple abo.... err, ok sorry, I forgot that Apple does not enter into a dialogue with its use, let alone run a public bug base like Adobe does.
Ok, rant over, back on topic... Efficient echo cancellation is very important for online communication via FMS, and the lack of it often results in a terrible experience for the participants. Skype has had this feature for a while and that's part of the reason while the in-call performance is so much better in Skype than it is in most Flash based chat tools.
But finally, Thibault Imbert has confirmed: "Just wanted to give you a little update. It is in very good shape, we are actively working on this, and this will be fixed soon ;)"
You can of course still add your vote to the feature request.

I wonder if Google just bastardized Flash Player adding AEC themselves, or I'm just lucky to not have been echoed to death using it...
Either way, AEC is definitely welcome!
