  I think stream switching would be somethign that either your capture card or an external device would need to manage for you, not the encoder.

  Think about RedBull CoPilot when the user switches views, for example... but live!!!
  FMS handles everything else, I guess...

  This is great news! I've been hoping Adobe would hurry up on this! We developed our own encoders (which function flawlessly), but without the VP6 codec, the quality was less than desirable (we're streaming TV stations live and full frame webcams live). We're testing now and will probably update all our encoders next week. We just have to make sure a .bat file will be able to automatically open a profile, connect and start broadcasting. Fingers crossed! THANKS ADOBE!!! AND STEFAN FOR THE GREAT NEWS!!! Great way to begin the weekend!

  Oh, and switching cameras... you could just use 2 cams/enocders/streams, which would be very cool for live events! One Flash player could allow the user to switch between streams.

  Steve, have you got a .bat file yet to control the encoder?? Let us know how your test goes!!

  Won't be testing the .bat file until Monday or Tues... but I'll definitly post our results. It was easy with Windows Media Encoder, so I'm hoping it will be just as easy with FME. (btw - the reason we need the .bat files to work is because many of our encoding computers are in out of town locations that require a non-experienced person to just reboot the computer when needed. the encoder should just start right up with our profile loaded, connect and begin encoding)
  
  One problem we've run into.. maybe someone can help... is that it seems to take about 5 mins for an instance on FMS that was improperly disconnected to clear (loss of internet connection, for example). As the encoder tries to reconnect, it gets a bad publish name (name already in use). If I remember correctly, there is a setting in the server config file for this, but it has a minimum, which it was default set to. Any way to get around that minimum???

  Steve, we're in exactly the same boat, we don't want our users to be able to play with the encoder config settings (talk about a train wreck waiting to happen), all they need is an on/off switch.
